My Story

I began developing a passion for health and wellness in my late twenties, after first reading a book on detoxification suggested to me by a friend. At the time, I was working professionally as an Industrial Designer in New York city (within the cosmetic, sports, and pharmaceutical industries), and had suffered from scoliosis, psoriasis, and chronic ear and throat infections since early childhood. As an adult, nothing had changed! I was always tired and sick, and now self-medicating with alcohol and drugs.

The profound results I achieved after doing my first detox, lead me to question the impacts of my chosen lifestyle and the conventional treatments I had been prescribed my entire life (rounds of antibiotics for infections and coal tar for my psoriasis). It inspired me to embark on an exploration of ideas and topics that encompassed: nutrition, psychology, ecology, spirituality, meditation, yoga, martial arts, and time spent in nature through camping (first introduced to me when I was 27). Although I loved creating and problem solving, I developed and intense internal discord between my current life’s trajectory, and the many new ideas I was exploring and putting into practice.

At the age of 33, I decided to take a 5 month sabbatical to “through hike” the (3500 kl long) Appalachian Trail- the longest hiking trail in the world). Upon it’s completion, I had changed. After spending thousand of hours hiking up and down mountains through wilderness (with nothing more than could be carried on my back), among skunks, raccoons, bears, moose, and lot’s of mosquito’s, the idea of returning to my old career and path sent me into a deep depression. I decided to make a change, and take my love for problem solving from industry,.. into biology.

I enrolled in Naturopathic Medical school, and began my intense emersion into the medical sciences, clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, and environment ecology, while furthering my understanding of the natural world by enrolling in The Wilderness Awareness school in WA.

Upon receiving my doctorate degree, I continued my clinical training in hospitals and private clinics, but was then serendipitously offered the opportunity to move to Thailand for a year, and work within the “5 Star Wellness Resort Industry”. The experience exposed me to “unconventional” treatments (some of which I found great value and others rather dubious), and to clients from different continents, countries, and cultural perspectives.

I have now lived in Thailand for over ten years. My time here has exposed me to the ultra-wealthy, and the ultra-poor. I will assure you, money can buy you security, but it does not guarantee happiness. The right people, the right food, the right exercise, and the right thoughts, are what make people happy.

Dr. Will has lived and worked in Thailand for over ten years, where he has treated thousands of International clients (from every country and continent)- both privately and through 5 Star Health and Wellness Resorts. He volunteers his time to treat local Thai residents in need, while continuing his education through the study of indigenous wisdom and practice.
